IMA renews commitment to AIDS awareness through Project LEAD

IMA will continue its role in controlling HIV/AIDS in Tanzania by taking part in Project Lead. Considered to be a follow-on to AIDSRelief, IMA supports capacity building, site management and other activities in 30 public and faith-based local partner treatment facilities in the Mwanza, Mara, Manyara, and Tanga regions. Eventually, Project LEAD will transition the management of care and treatment service delivery that began with AIDSRelief to local partners in line with the Presidential Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and the Global Health Initiativestrategies in an effort to foster the program’s sustainability.

IMA’s local partner, Christian Social Services Commission, will take over management of program activities in phases through the end of the project.

Project Lead is funded by the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control through Catholic Relief Services. The program is currently supporting 90 health facilities in Tanzania.
