IMA World Health has been awarded a $1.8 million grant by the World Bank-managed Multi-Donor Trust Fund to strengthen a range of HIV/AIDS prevention and care services in two states in Southern Sudan, Jonglei and Upper Nile. This grant expands IMA's role in health service delivery and the building of functional capacity in the post-conflict health system.
The goal of this project is to increase the capacity of the two states to manage and implement a full range of HIV/AIDS prevention and care services.
Half a century of conflict between north and south in Sudan ended in 2005 with the signing of a comprehensive peace agreement.
In 2008 IMA was awarded a grant by the Trust Fund to expand access to basic health care to the 2 million residents of Jonglei and Upper Nile. IMA was chosen to lead the reestablishment of a functioning health system in two states plagued by poor roads and seasonal flooding.
IMA World Health is recognized as a leader in the improvement of health systems in post-conflict countries. In the eastern provinces of the Democratic Republic of Congo, IMA leads a USAID-funded four-year $60 million health strengthening program which serves as a model for improving service delivery.
