Nairobi, Kenya – One of IMA's partners in Africa, Ecumenical Pharmaceutical Network (EPN), has developed a series of 10 comic strips to highlight the incredible boon antibiotics have been to mankind while also pointing out some of the dangers of incomplete dosing, infection control and antimicrobial resistance, in addition to other messages. As in the United States, graphic art is used in Africa to inform and educate a young and increasingly literate audience.
IMA is one of the 70 worldwide partners of EPN, headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya. EPN is committed to the provision of quality pharmaceutical services to increase access to health care and medicines in the developing world. It is a faith-centered organization with an independent voice seeking to improve church pharmaceutical delivery systems. IMA works with faith-based partners such as EPN in all of IMA's program locations.
Strengthening health systems is EPN's overriding objective and this is achieved through focusing on the following strategic areas: access to and rational use of medicines; HIV and AIDS care and treatment; professionalization of pharmaceutical services; and pharmaceutical information sharing.
