The unique role of faith-based organizations (FBOs) in the battle against malaria was the topic of a September 24th panel discussion held at the Global Health Council in Washington, DC.
IMA developed the concept and co-hosted the panel discussion with Christian Connections for International Health, and the Faith and Global Health Caucus of the Global Health Council.
Presenters included Dr. Frank Baer (shown in photo), a senior consultant to IMA and a longtime partner of our work in the D.R. Congo; Sam Dixon, IMA Board Member and Deputy General Secretary of the United Methodist Committee on Relief; Dr. Samuel Mwenda, General Secretary for the Christian Health Association of Kenya (CHAK); Jean Duff, Executive Director for the Center for Interfaith Action (CIFA) on Global Poverty; and Dr. Jose Tchofa, Malaria Program Manager for Lutheran World Relief.
The panel was moderated by Kimberly Konkel, Associate Director for Health with the Center for Faith Based and Community Initiatives at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services..
