Container includes IMA Medicine Boxes®, Safe Motherhood Kits™ and more.

IMA World Health/Laura Burkey

IMA delivered a container with more than 500 cartons of life-saving medical kits and supplies to Haiti in November. The value of the shipment is more than $600,000 - among them are 100 IMA Medicine Boxes® and 3500 Safe Motherhood Kits™.

Considered by many to be a mobile treasure chest in the developing world, each IMA Medicine Box® contains enough medicine and supplies to treat 1,000 people for nearly two months. Contents include antibiotics, first aid items and pain medications.

This shipment will be divided among the following hospitals:

Hospital Justinien, Hospital Albert Schweitzer, Hospital Grande Riv du Nord, Hospital Ste. Croix, Hospital Bienfaisance de Pignon, Hospital St. Nicolas, Hospital Armee du Salute, Hospital St. Michel de Jacmel, Hospital HIC- Sud Dept and Hospital HIC-Nord Ouest Dept.

Also in the shipment were nearly 3500 Safe Motherhood Kits™. For every woman who dies in childbirth, 20 more suffer injury, infection or disease. These kits are designed to put an end to that by providing sterile birthing supplies, including gloves, umbilical tie, scalpel, baby supplies and more.
