Clean water is an essential part of good health.

When you live in DR Congo, the quest for clean drinking water can be all-consuming. Some families spend up to six hours every day hauling water for drinking, cooking and bathing. In some rural areas, 2 out of 3 families have no access at all to improved, safe water sources.*

Each Lifestraw Family® filter costs just $30 (including shipping) and can treat more than 18,000 liters of water - enough to last a family of 5 about 3 years.

The consequences of drinking unsafe water can be devastating – particularly for pregnant women and young children, who are especially susceptible to the effects of waterborne diseases.

IMA World Health is working hard to improve maternal and child health in eastern DR Congo by providing education, access to medical care and more. Improving access to safe water is a critical part of our plan to save lives and improve health in this extremely challenged region.

A Solution and a Goal

New research is showing that the best way to address waterborne disease is to provide personal water filters to pregnant mothers for use in their homes.

According to Dr. Larry Sthreshley, IMA’s country director for DR Congo, “These filters have the greatest chance of being used and making an impact on the mother and the child.”

All of these precious lives—and millions more—have received health and medical care thanks to your support of IMA World Health’s life-saving programs all over the world.

Each LifeStraw® Family filter costs $30 (including shipping), and can treat more than 18,000 liters of water. The impact of a water filter is immense for a family who does not have access to safe water!

Clean water is a basic need for good health. Will you help us provide safe water to those who need it most?
