Former IMA President Heads Assessment Team in Haiti (2/9/2010)
IMA World Health, a specialist in providing essential healthcare services and medical supplies to people in need around the world, today announced it will send a two-person Assessment Team to Haiti on February 10, 2010. Leading the IMA Assessment Team will be Paul Derstine, retired president of IMA. He will be joined by IMA’s Country Representative for Haiti, Dr. Abdel Direny, who has headed IMA’s office in Port au Prince since 2008.

Mobilizing—And More (2/1/2010)
IMA World Health mobilized quickly to respond to the earthquake in Haiti. We have already air shipped more than $500,000 worth of medicines and medical supplies to the troubled nation, with another $250,000 worth ready to go. Shipments include IMA Medicine Boxes®, which have basic pain medications, antibiotics, ointments, and bandages to typically treat up to 1,000 people. We also are supplying Safe Motherhood Kits — with hospitals and clinics severely damaged, supplies for clean birthing are needed more than ever.

What is a Safe Motherhood Kit? (2/1/2010)
The Safe Motherhood Kit was created in response to women’s needs in developing countries for basic sterile supplies for childbirth. IMA staff designed the Kit with input from medical professionals in the field. The Rotary Club of Bonds Meadow (Westminster, MD) – a longtime IMA World Health partner – funded the first 500 Kits as a pilot project.
